Mrs. Taylor is the lead first aider in school.
Staff are trained in first aid/paediatric first aid and a number are trained in epipen and diabetic administration. Please note parents/guardians must complete the relevant forms to enable staff to dispense prescribed medicine to pupils or complete a relevant form for pupils to self administer medicine.
We would ask all parents/guardians not to send "over the counter" remedies for ailments for administration by staff or supply pupils for example: throat lozenges etc.
All medicines/inhalers/epi-pens etc., are kept securely in the Medical Room together with relevant records. Diabetes equipment is securely held in the classroom. Antibiotics/Eye drops etc., are stored at the required temperature in the Medical Room refrigerator. It is extremely important to keep pupil records up to date with any newly diagnosed conditions e.g., asthma/diabetes or any allergic reactions etc. A detailed record of first aid training is also held in the school's Single Central Record (DBS file).
PLEASE CHECK ALL EXPIRATION DATES ON EPI-PENS and INHALERS AS THESE ITEMS DO HAVE A "SHELF-LIFE"
and ensure staff have sufficient supplies of any
medicines/equipment your child may require.
Thank you for your co-operation.
