At last we can use the field to start our athletic skills.
Our topic this half term is African Adventure. I have attached an overview so you can see what your child will be learning about.
We had a very busy week carrying out experiments and we thoroughly enjoyed having visitors coming into school to teach us new things.
A great start to the week. Mr Ryle very kindly talked to us about farming and brought in his tractor and some lambs for us to look at.
Happy new year! I hope everyone had a great holiday. Thank you again, from Mrs Ridley and myself, for the lovely Christmas gifts we received.
I have attached the Spring 1 overview, so you can see what your child will be learning this half term. Our topic is 'Superheroes'.
A great week back, everyone trying their best. We had a very challenging week in mathematics, learning how to make amounts using 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins. There is a brilliant interactive game on Topmarks which will give your child an opportunity to practise making amounts. You need to choose 'mixed coins' then 'exact money up to 20p.' This link will take you to the interactive game. Have fun!
Gymnastics Points and Patches
Investigating the Properties of Ice
We started the week completing our 'Don't Let The Pigeon...' booklets and I am so proud of everyone for all their effort producing persuasive sentences and fabulous drawings. We have also been using paint to develop our superhero's setting. Some pictures can be seen below. In gymnastics, we practised holding balances, forward rolls and teddy bear rolls and then applied these into a 4 step sequence.
The school's sports council decided they would like to have some year group races in PE. Jade and Purple worked together in teams to complete different challenges. The children showed determination when completing the challenging activities and cheered each other on. Well done Jade and Purple!
VISIT TO ST JAMES' CHURCH
To end this half term we visited St James' Church to consolidate what we have been learning. We had a great time baptising a baby doll with Rev Beth Rookwood.
Welcome back. I hope everyone had a great holiday.
This week in PE, Jade class have been throwing and aiming. PE for this half term will be on Wednesday and Thursday.
Look at our photos doing judo!
Friendship week ended with Children In Need. We dressed in non uniform and made a donation for the Children In Need appeal. We had fun making a Pudsey bear mask, a money container, a Pudsey hat and we iced biscuits. Have a look at our photographs.
Little Angel Gets Her Wings - Christmas Performance
A huge well done to Jade, Purple and Green classes. The children were so looking forward to the performance and they were totally amazing. Thank you for all their great costumes you provided to make their day special. Next stop - The Theatre Royal!
AUTUMN TERM 1 OVERVIEW 2016
A great start to the year with 100% attendance. The children have settled in really well. They thoroughly enjoyed bringing in their toys and talking about them. These toys will be needed again in week 3, I will let you know which day they are required. In maths, the children have been ordering and sequencing numbers to twenty with number cards and using interactive games in the computer suite. (Photos to follow)
In maths, the children have been looking at the number arrays on dice and dominoes and they have been trying to recall the numbers without counting the spots. They have also been finding the number 1 more than a given number up to 100. Please remember to log on to Active learn, as I have allocated some activities to consolidate learning.
Maths and English photographs
In English this week, the children had great fun with the text 'It's not a stick.' They enjoyed the role play which stimulated their imagination creating their own ideas for their 'It's not a stick.'
In maths, they practised using number lines to find 1 and 2 more than a given number to 20. Please remember to log on to the active learn website to complete homework tasks. I have put some links below for extra learning activities.
I hope you enjoy these sites. Keep practising!
This week in PE, the children were further developing their coordination skills. They played a variety of clapping games with a partner and gave each other instructions, touching different coloured pads, using different parts of their body.
