We have had a fantastic end to a brilliant Autumn Term. Earlier in the week we had a Google Meet with all our adults and together we watched our Nativity. I think we were all in agreement about how proud we were of all the children. We then had a Santa Dash where we raced around the obstacle course all while trying to avoid being hit by a snowball. We all had lots of fun. We have finished a fantastic week by having a party in our classroom. We were so excited when we came in to the classroom and found out Santa had been there and had left us lots of party treats.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone and we will see you in 2021!
Snow in the classroom?!
With Christmas round the corner, we have been in full Christmas mode in Nursery this week. We had lots of fun making our very own snow, we had a go at making snow people, an igloo and lots of mess! This week our writing area has turned into a Christmas post office. The children turned into post workers and delivered their school made cards and letters to their friends. We are getting very excited for Christmas in Indigo class. Have a look at our pictures to see all the fun we are having.
Frosty Comes To Town
This week we have been practising for our Christmas Performance, all the children have worked really hard learning all our songs and actions. We have also had a very special visitor arrive in our classroom from the North Pole! Welcome Frosty our elf. To help Frosty out we have turned into elves and helped wrap all the presents for Christmas. Frosty was a bit cheeky this week and pinched one of our chocolates from our advent calendar! He felt very bad for doing that so he bought us a brand new advent calendar. We all agreed he must have been very hungry after flying back from the North Pole so we forgave him.
Nursery Rhyme Week
During Nursery Rhyme Week, we learnt lots of different nursery rhymes. We continued our learning in the small world and role play areas, which we turned into Nursery Rhyme land. After learning 5 Currant buns, we made our own buns as a class. They were delicious!
RE - Singing Songs
Today we have begun to learn that Christians sing to give thanks to God and praise him. We learnt that singing can make people happy and that singing deepens people's relationship with God.
We learnt the new songs: Our God is a Great Big God & Thank you God for this new day.
We also made our own musical instruments using junk materials.
Interfaith Week - Celebrating Diwali
This week we have been learning about the Hindu festival, Diwali. Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated every year. In school we have learnt about the story Rama and Sita, which is a tale of good defeating evil. We also learnt about Rangoli patterns and how they are used to welcome the god Lakshimi (the godness of wealth) in your house. We then created our own Rangoli patterns using different medias.
Fireworks and Bonfire Night
We have had a wonderful first week back at school. As it has been Bonfire Night this week, we have learnt all about Guy Fawkes. We have looked closely at fireworks and talked about how they move, sound and look. Have a look on our school Twitter feed to see our firework dance. As well as dancing, we used different medias to represent fireworks. Have a look at some of fantastic work below.
