Morpeth All Saints Church of England Aided First School

Autumn 1 & 2 2022

Week 7

Autumn 2

We have been working on our drawing skills and thinking about the different parts of our bodies. Look at our self portraits.

Week 4

Autumn 2

Today we used powder paints for the first time. We used red and white to make the colour pink. It involved lots of listening carefully and following instructions. We made some super paintings.

Week 3

Autumn 2

A super morning spent in the outside Learning area looking at the shape and colours of fallen leaves. We discussed how the leaves had ended up on the floor (the very windy weather last week) and made ‘leaf kebabs’ by skewering the leaves onto a stick which we took home to share with our families.

Autumn 2

Week 2

Today we had a visit from the local fire fighters. They told us all about their work and how we can keep ourselves safe. They asked the children to find the smoke detectors in their homes and find out what they do. REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR ALARM ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Week 7

Autumn

Make sure you take a look at the art work on the playground (both the main yard and in the EYFS yard) today. Each class has been given the task to create a picture using only conkers.

Today in outside learning we helped to make the nursery class conker picture. We decided on a snail after one of our children helped save a snail on his way to school. He told us all about it.

In Outside Learning we reminded the children that conkers come from the HORSE CHESTNUT tree, the tree we met last week.
Today we met the oak tree. We looked for acorns and their cups, and also looked at the shape of the leaves. Instead of being spiked like the red oak they were curvy and round.

Autumn 1

Week 6

Today in outside learning we continued our work on looking for the signs of Autumn.  We went to visit the Horse chestnut tree.  It is on the boundary or our school playing field.  We are so lucky as it drops its conkers onto the school field.
Whilst we were there it gave us a chance to look at the trees in our Outside Learning area.  What a fabulous range of colours.  The children were asked to find a conker and it’s shell.  Look at what we found.
We also let the children use their conkers.  What could they make with them or do with them?

Autumn 1 2022

Week 5

COLOUR MATCHING

Today the children have been collecting natural objects and matching their colours on Mrs Roberts spot chart. Look what they have been doing.

Autumn 1 2022

Week 1 Outdoor Learning

Today we started the session with a new song:  Welcome to our woodland (to the tune of Oranges and Lemons).

We played games, we were introduced to a BEECH tree, planted a beechnut and made bridges for the three Billy goats gruff to cross.  What do you do outside?  Please share on Tapestry with us. We would love to see some photographs too. Thank you
