The children have had a fantastic start to school life in Reception class this week. They have been exploring all the different areas of the classroom, both indoors and out as well as catching up with their peers and making new friends along the way. We have decided upon our own class rules of how to have a happy classroom and have been trying hard to stick to these.
The children have began our 'Music and Movement' sessions which are on a Monday morning in the school hall. We get out a range of large PE equipment and work on our pre-writing skills (gross motor movements). This includes throwing and catching large balls, moving the parachute up and down and exploring with the circus equipment. These activities help to develop the muscles in our upper body, which will help us with our writing skills. Music and Movement will be every Monday morning.
Our school is situated in attractive and extensive well maintained grounds in a small housing estate, Lancaster Park, which is north of the town of Morpeth. The school first opened in 1972 and was formerly known as Wansbeck St Aidan Church of England Aided First School until it was renamed in 2001.Read More of the school welcome page
