Phonics Score

 

Phonics teaching in Reception and Years 1 and 2 follows the order of "Letters and Sounds" although teaching is creative and we spend time trying to put a child's phonetic knowledge into a real and useable context such as reading a book.  As soon as a child recognises three letters, we will start to show them how they can put them together to make a word.  We are keen to show each child the relevant and importance of phonetic knowledge and how to apply it to help become fluent, expressive and enthusiastic readers and writers.
